In skinny singles you only use half the court. During the course of a match you will use either the diagonal half-court or use the half-court directly across from each other.
Players will be placed into a (seeded) 4-player round-robin group. At the end of the round-robin the top two players from each group will advance to an 'A flight' double-elimination round. The 3rd & 4th placed players will advance to a 'B flight' double-elimination round. All players will, if the entry is full, be guaranteed a minimum of 5 matches. Each initial round-robin match will be played, using rally-point scoring, to 15 points (win by 1 point), switch ends when one player reaches 8 points. The 'opportunity' bracket of the double-elimination round will be played, using rally-point scoring, to 15 points (win by 1 point), switch ends when one player reaches 8 points. All other matches will be played, using rally-point scoring, to 21 points (win by 2 points), switch ends when one player reaches 11 points. No strategic time-outs. At the start of each match the players will flip a coin. The winner will choose either to serve, receive serve or which end to start from. The loser will choose from the remaining options. Server will serve from the side appropriate to their score, i.e. if their score is even the serve will be from the right hand side, if odd from the left hand side. The receiver will receive from the side appropriate to their score, i.e. if their score is even they receive on the right hand side, if odd on the left hand side. We reserve the right to change the format without notice. |
