After one of the hottest and driest summers on record it looks like Mother Nature is threatening to send some rain to Chemainus on the weekend of our tournament. We will be watching the weather forecast closely and will make a decision on Friday afternoon as to how we should proceed. If the Saturday forecast is for 'periods of rain' we will have no alternative but to postpone the events scheduled for Saturday August 8th (Women's Doubles & Men's Doubles) to Saturday August 15th. If, however, the forecast is for a 'chance of showers' we will go ahead as planned and hope the showers don't materialize or we can work around them. We will post a note here no later than 6:00 pm on Friday August 7th to confirm whether we will be going ahead as planned or will be postponing Saturday's events until the following week.
The long-range weather forecast for Sunday August 9th is showing a slight improvement so, unless there is a change, the events scheduled (Mixed Doubles & Singles) will go ahead. We may consider having a later start time of 10:00 am (instead of 9:00 am) to give the courts an opportunity to dry.
If we postpone any events we will hold open new registrations for those events for a further week. This will allow players who previously were unavailable to now enter and take the place of those players who may become unavailable because of the change of date.
