There is a process for new products and equipment that manufacturers have to abide by if they want to bring a new product to market, and hope to have approved by the USAPA for use in sanctioned tournaments. Pickleball paddles - before they are approved by the USAPA - must be submitted to be tested for deflection and for a 'roughness' test.
Pro-Lite submitted its new APEX paddle for testing in September 2015. What follows will be of interest to all pickleball players. It may presage a change in how our sport is governed.
