We are delighted to report that the City of Nanaimo has approved the construction of 6 new dedicated pickleball courts in Beaufort Park, with construction starting in the spring of 2017. This follows a lot of hard work by the Nanaimo pickleball community, culminating in an inspiring and successful presentation to Council by Dave Eaton, President of the Nanaimo Pickleball Club, on September 26th. The new facility will replace two aging and underused tennis courts that had been slated for an upgrade, with space to allow for the possibility to expand from 6 courts to 8 courts if the demand is there.
