Dennis Peters, who has been spearheading a drive to get new, dedicated pickleball courts in Lake Cowichan, sends this report:
"Last evening, the Lake Cowichan town counsel approved the conversion of the whole Cowichan Avenue courts facility to pickleball.
The planning for the conversion has already commenced and our goal is to have 6 permanent courts in place by June 1. The plan calls for the resurfacing of the court area with silica sand based paints – 2 coats for leveling followed by 2 coats finished in dark blue inbound and forest green outbound and kitchen area with #90 silica sand. The courts will be fenced with 4’ high black chain link fencing with 4 or 5 gates to the playing area.
Along the inside fence lines, we will be placing picnic tables and benches for spectators and players. Additional off-street parking and two washrooms will also be added."
