Injury Impacts League Match

12/7/2018

The Women's Division league match, played at the Fuller Lake courts on July 12th, between the 'Victerminetters' from Victoria and 'The Dilly Picklers' from Nanaimo had an unfortunate outcome. Anna Edgar of the Nanaimo team sustained an ankle injury during the first game and was unable to continue. The VIPA Team League rules are brutal in these circumstances: "In the event of an injury preventing a player from continuing a match, and/or playing in subsequent matches, these matches will be awarded to the opponent(s). These results will be used in the individual statistics of the injured player." The end result was inevitable - the Victoria team won a 9 to 0 victory and claimed sole possession of first place in the division.
The score sheets can be viewed here and the league standings and individual stats are available here.
