The inaugural 90-Minute (Mixed) Tournament was held under sunny skies at the Fuller Lake Pickleball Courts on Sunday, July 15th. The eventual winners were the recently crowned Canadian National champions, from Victoria, Damaris & Peter Brix. (Full results here).
The event used an innovative format together with a rally-point scoring system that we hope the IFP/USAPA will adopt. The feedback from the participants was largely positive, especially with regard to the scoring system. The format had teams moving between courts based on winning or losing. At the start we had randomly allocated teams to a court but this resulted in a number of teams playing each other several times. For future 90-Minute Tournaments this needs to be tweaked and the solution appears to be seeding and strategically placing the teams at the start.
