We are delighted to report that the Town of Lake Cowichan has approved the construction of 4 new dedicated pickleball courts with the acquisition of the required property adjacent to Centennial Park. A private donor has generously contributed the funding towards the cost of construction of the pickleball courts. This follows a concerted effort by local pickleball enthusiasts culminating in a successful presentation to Council. It is anticipated that a portion of the pickleball courts will be ready for use this year. Centennial Park is undergoing a major upgrade to be completed in 2017. The upgrade is being completed with the assistance of a $500,000 grant from the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program and will now encompass the development of 2 baseball diamonds, soccer field and separately the pickleball/tennis courts.
